THE WINDOW

The Window(Chapter II) is a non-narrative short film that chronicles the experiences of families and firefighters following the 2015 Tianjin 8·12 explosion. Shot over a span of three years, the project weaves together my own footage, images from the subjects, online content, and satellite imagery, creating a layered narrative of the disaster and its long-lasting impact.

The film explores the destruction of both physical and emotional boundaries. Once a barrier between the outside world and personal space, the windows were shattered by the explosion, signaling the breakdown of safety and privacy. Through a combination of fragmented visuals, sounds, and diverse media sources, the film captures the enduring pain and fear of those whose lives were irreversibly altered by an event that has largely faded from public memory.
